Bibek Raj Kandel is a strategic advisor and energy policy expert with over 15 years of experience working on energy transition, utilities reform, infrastructure development, and climate resilience in frontier and emerging markets. He advises governments, multilateral institutions, and private sector partners—including UNDP, the World Bank, IRENA, and Enabel—on energy policy, utility transformation, and investment strategies in complex power markets.Bibek combines engineering expertise with political economy insight to navigate the institutional and market challenges of the energy transition. His work spans national utilities, regulatory reform, and infrastructure development across Nepal, East Africa, and Asia, including advisory engagements in Malaysia, Indonesia, and China, as well as remote advisory support to Pacific Island states on energy transition planning.He has led major initiatives around grid strengthening and electricity markets in Rwanda, as well as designing a multi-million Euro climate-resilient infrastructure program in Mozambique following Cyclone Idai.Bibek serves on the boards of Bhutan Global Group and Canopy USA, as well as serving as an Asia Global Fellow at the Asia Global Institute at the University of Hong Kong.
